Mr Lavin

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela

Welcome to our Year 2 class page: Mr. Lavin, Mrs Stoker and wonderful children!

We look forward to sharing our year 2 achievements and news with you here. Hopefully you will find out all the information you need about life in Year 2 here - if not, just ask!

As always, I’m always available for a chat if you need anything at all, if I am not around at the end of the day please do ask Mrs Stoker anything and she will be happy to assist. I know how important this final year in Key Stage One is for your child and you, and I want to make the transition into the juniors as smooth as possible.

Again, as always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr C Lavin

Curriculum: Spring 2:

Religion:

In our Religion lessons this half term, children will be thinking about what it means by 'The Mass'. We will be pulling apart all aspects of the mass, thinking carefully about the responses children should use. We will plan out certain parts and hopefully be able to contribute to the whole school masses soon.

English:

We will be using the text ‘The Queen's Hat' as a part of our World Book Day celebrations. We will then move onto 'The disgusting Sandwich' to really get our teeth into writing an extended story.

Mathematics:

Our Maths sessions will focus on Fractions and money this half term. Children will be finding fractions of amounts, for example 1/3 of 33. They will also begin to learn about the various coins we use to spend and working our change.

Topic:

This year, all foundation subjects will be taught through one topic. Our topic this half term will be 'The Farm Shop'.
